Note: Product Groups are used mainly for reporting purposes and it is important to create them before creating products. If you have imported product groups it may be necessary to drag and drop your groups to rearrange them.
Product groups are your main classification for your products. These groups are used in your accounting software for promotions, reporting, tax rates, and general organization. Product Group is a required field on the product card. In the Point of Sale, Product Groups are used to easily organize products for searching. This function is available in both the BerlinPOS and WindowsPOS.
Product groups can be nested to form a tree, and can be dragged and dropped to arrange groups and subgroups. Right clicking on the Product Group in the tree will give you additional options to add, rename, edit, and delete groups. You can import your products directly to product groups, even in a tree structure, so long as each group has a unique name. Click on the PIM module icon located on the top bar of your ERPLY account. Under this module, select “Product Groups.” This will take you to the Product Groups page.
Create a New Group
Click the “+” button located in the bottom bar, right click and select “+ Add” on the Product Groups screen, or hit F3 on your keyboard.
You can now enter a name for this product group. You can create subgroups by dragging group folders into each other or right clicking and selecting “+ Add” on an existing product group. Below is an example of groups and subgroups. To expand groups with subgroups in them, click the arrow located in the corner to the left of the group.
Pictured above, are the main product groups. Below, is an expanded view to show the nested subgroups as well. ‘Womens Shoe’ and ‘Mens Shoe’ are subgroups of ‘Shoes’, as one would expect.
You have now successfully created a product group. The next step is to start adding products.
How to Manually Add a Product
Click on the PIM module located on the top left of your ERPLY account, then click the “+” to the right of “Product Catalog” in the dropdown menu. This will take you to a new Product Card.
Click on the “save” icon when you have completed the general product information.
